The sad reality we face today is that much of the produce we do consume has drastically reduced nutrient content, due to the depleted soils we farm and the chemicals we add to give produce a beefier look and a longer shelf-life. In fact we get less than 10% of the nutrient value in our fruits and vegetables today than we did a hundred years ago. The Recommended daily allowance is now 7 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables as opposed to the 3 to 5 which was the norm less than a decade ago. This is largely due to the fact that our produce is just not as healthy as it used to be.
When you are eating these fruits and vegetables fresh, if you absolutely cannot find an organic option, then peel the ones you can (apples, pears, peaches and nectarines). You can also soak these and scrub them in a tub of water with 10% vinegar (apple cider is best) which I do not recommend for any kind of berry.
When it comes to your Greens Powder, however, if any of these 12 ingredients is not organic, then stay away from it! These days there are plenty of formulas that contain organic ingredients almost exclusively so make a choice that’s goof for your health!
